At Least Ten Prisoners were Executed at Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj

At least 10 prisoners were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on the morning of Wednesday, November 14th, 2018, the death sentences of ten prisoners were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.

On Sunday, November 11th, 2018, fourteen prisoners who were mostly sentenced to death for murder charges, were transferred from various section of the Rajai Shahr Prison to solitary confinement. Six of prisoners, with consent from victims or an extended deadline, returned to their cells and eight other prisoners were executed.

The identity of some of these individuals approved by the Human Rights Organization of Iran is as follows:

Saman Yamini from Hall 1, Ward 1

Ali Iranshahi from Hall 2, Ward 1

Ali Amindokht from Hall 31, Ward 10

Sam Segund

Also on Wednesday morning, two detainees were taken to Ward 8 (known as the Revolutionary Guards Corps), which is under the control of security agencies and executed there. These two prisoners were called “Vahid Mazlomin” and “Mohammad Esmaeil Ghasemi” who were charged with “corruption in the affair” by “economic corruption” through the formation of a network of corruption, disrupting the economic and monetary system of the country by carrying out illegal transactions and major smuggling, and were sentenced to death.

Inside Iran, Vahid Mazlomin was nicknamed “Sultan Sekeh”, as at the beginning of the arrest, police sources claimed that they had found two tons of coins in his possession.

It should be noted that Iran’s human rights organization has severely condemned the execution of these two prisoners yesterday and demanded that such executions be stopped. Mahmoud Amiri Moghaddam, a spokesman for the organization yesterday, said: “The death penalty for any charge is inhuman punishment, and the death penalty for such allegations is prohibited by international law. They were sentenced to death in an illegitimate and unfair trial. The main purpose of the execution of these two people is to create panic in society, not to fight corruption, because the main source of economic corruption in the country are government agencies and the judiciary that issued these death sentences. “

By the time of this report, the media in Iran have only announced the execution of Vahid Mazlomin and Mohammad Esmaeil Ghasemi.
