Mohammadnaeem Mohammadpour was Sentenced to One Year Imprisonment by the Appeals Court

Mohammadnaeem Mohammadpour’s two years of imprisonment sentence was reduced to one year by the Appeals Court.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, a two-year prison sentence of Mohammadnaeem Mohammadpour, a Kurdish resident from the village of Hosseinabad, Sanandaj, which was issued by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, was dropped to one year in Section 4 of the Kurdistan Appeal Court.

The Kurdish resident was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment by Judge Saeedi, head of the first branch of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, on charges of acting against national security and “contacting one of the Kurdish opposition parties.”

Mohammadnaeem Mohammadpour, 45, suffers from an acute heart disease that, according to physicians, cannot endure prison conditions. In addition, his young child is also mentally disabled and requires constant control and care.

This Kurdish resident was temporary released from the central prison in Sanandaj by providing bail of one hundred and fifty million Tomans on Tuesday, December 21st, 2017.

Hosseinabad (Sanandaj) is a village in the central part of Sanandaj city in Iran’s Kurdistan province. The village is located in the southern Hosseinabad village. According to the census of the Iranian Statistics Center in 2006, its population is 1,293 people (322 households).
