Despite repeated requests by the family, the Kurdish activists and Political Prisoner Ramin Hosseinpanahi who sentenced to death, is still deprived of the right to visit and to contact the family.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners,Sanandaj prison authorities have told Ramin Hussein Panahi’s mother during her request for visit his son that, until “further notice” and for an indefinite period, Ramin’s right to contact his family even by phone is denied.

It was said that prison officials told the mother of this political activist sentenced to death that Ramin had been banned from visitation by orders of the Revolutionary Court, and would be denied the right to visit until another court order is issued.

The family of this political prisoner sentenced to death believes that the order of prison visitation ban for their son was issued by Sanandaj Intelligence Agency. With this, they want to put more pressure on Ramin and the family.

Also, Hussein Ahmadi, a lawyer in charge of this political prisoner’s sentence to death, previously stated that Ramin Hossein Panahi’s prison visitation is unlawful and this act is considered a torture on this political activist.

On June 23, 2017, this Kurdish activist was arrested in Sanandaj. Eventually, after 200 days in solitary confinement at Revolutionary Guard’s Intelligence Agency and Intelligence Ministry, he was transferred to the Sanandaj Prison.

On January 25, 2018, in only one court session, this

was sentenced to death by a branch of a revolutionary court in Sanandaj, chaired by Judge Saeedi and another judge.

Ramin Hussein Panahi’s death sentence was issued while he was denied all his alleged charges, such as participation in the armed militia fight.

This Kurdish political prisoner lawyer, in various interviews with the media for the same reason, regarded the sentence unexpected and unjust.

Ramin Hussein Panahi and his brother, Afshin Hussein Panahi, formally announced a hunger strike to protest the verdict in a letter to the authorities after the verdict was issued. Subsequently, both prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement cells and continued their hunger strike there.

On February 4, 2018, Ramin Hussein Panahi’s mother, Dayee Sharife, Civil Rights activists Anwar Hossein Panahi (Amin’s brother) , and Hussein Ahmadi Nejaz (defense attorney), met with Ramin and Afshin and with the help of other civil activists and authorities, promised to work on his case. After this, they ended their hunger strike.

Since then, several thousand citizens and civil and political activists have been signing petitions and letters, and condemned  Ramin Hussein Panahi’s sentencing to death.

Also, over 32 former congress representatives, university professors, and lawyers called to cancel Ramin Hussein Panahi’s death sentence in a letter to judiciary ministry.

Also, 24 civil and human rights organizations have issued a statement called for the immediate cancelation of the death sentence of Ramin Hussein Panahi.

Also, in an statement, Amnesty International demanded the immediate cancelation of Ramin Hosseinpanahi’ death sentence. According to the announcement, the verdict issued to Ramin Hosseinpanahi was followed by a severely unfair trial following four months of compulsory disappearance. The organization has argued that security and judicial authorities, in retaliatory action, transferred Ramin Hosseinpanahi to solitary confinement, and his conviction and punishment are in contradiction to the international law and should be repealed.
