Continued Arrest of Ahvazi Steel Workers / Transfer of Six Detainees to Shiban Prison

Despite the Ahvaz judicial authorities promising that they would order the release of all detained Ahvaz Steel workers, at least 7 of these workers are in detention. In addition, today, six detained workers were transferred from Ahvaz Information Office detention center to the central Ahvaz Central prison.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, despite the Ahvaz judicial authorities promise to the families of Ahvaz Steel detainees yesterday that all detainees from Ahvaz Steel would be released by the end of this week, “at least 7 of them have not yet been released. In addition, today, January 3rd, 2018, six detained workers were transferred from Ahvaz Information Office detention center to the central Ahvaz Central prison.

Gharib Houizawi, Mostafa Abiyat, Kazem Heydari, Karim Sayahi, Tariq Khalafi, Seyyed Meysam, and Ali Ghanouati were transferred from the Ahvaz Information Office to Shiban Prison and Behzad Alikhani is still at the Detention Center of Ahvaz Information Office.

Workers from the Steel National Group organized large gatherings in Shoosh and Ahvaz in November and December, joining the protesting workers of the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane.

“Paying deferred wages”, “Resuming production and supply of raw materials,” “Providing health and supplementary insurance”, and “paying attention to the subsistence level of workers” are among the demands of the workers of this complex.
