Two Baha’i Citizens were Arrested in Kerman

Two Baha’i citizens in Kerman were arrested by security forces and transferred to an unknown location.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on January 19th, 2019, two Baha’i citizens, Kiana Rezvani and Kimia Mostafa, were arrested by security forces in Kerman and transferred to an unknown location

Up to now, the reasons for the arrest and the alleged charges against these Baha’i citizens are not known.

According to a source, Kiana Rezvani, a previous detainee, was denied admission to the university due to being a Baha’i.

UN human rights reporters on Iranian affairs have repeatedly protested to the Iranian government on their treatment of Baha’is and believed that it is a clear indication of Iran’s neglect of human rights treaties.

The constitution of the Islamic Republic does not recognize Baha’ism as a religion, hence the detention and imprisonment of Baha’is have continued throughout the four decades.
