A Lawyer was Arrested on the Charges of “Insulting Islam’s Prophet” in Jiroft

Hossein Salami, Jiroft Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor, announced the detention of a lawyer for “insulting the Prophet Muhammad” and said, “A person who on the social networking media posted insulting materials on the Prophet of Islam, Velayat-e Faqih, the Revolutionary Guards and the Basij was arrested.”

He said to IRNA on Monday, April 15th, 2019, “The report was published by an individual (TES) in cyberspace. After the investigation, it was revealed that the publisher was a lawyer, so the Jiroft prosecutor acted seriously on the issue.”

He continued, “The case for insulting Prophet of Islam, Velayat-e Faqih, Basij and the Revolutionary Guards has been created and sent to the Second Branch of the Prosecutor’s Office for Public and Revolutionary Tribunals in Jiroft to be reviewed and for evidence be gathered.”

The Jiroft prosecutor, arguing that the case will be handled in a special and out of turn, said, “After collecting the documents and evidence, the defendant was summoned and informed of the charge by the prosecutor, and later sent to prison.”

He added, “To complete the investigation and carefully examine all aspect of the case, the case is under full investigation.”
