According to BBC Persian reports, Farhad Salmanpour was detained by security forces on Wednesday, August 21st, 2019, and is currently in Evin Prison.
Some social network users attribute his arrest to Saeed Malekpour’s departure from the country, but Mr. Malekpour says, “No one knew about him leaving Iran.”
Saeed Malekpour, a prisoner sentenced to life in prison, while was on prison vacation after 11 years of detention, left Iran to Canada. Regarding the arrest of Mr. Salmanpour, he said: “no one knew of my departure from Iran and apparently, they arrested Mr. Salmanpour on charges of helping me escaping the country, but even my mother and brother were not aware of it in Iran, and when I said good-bye to them I told them I am going back to prison. Farhad Salmanpour was with me during my prison vacation and most likely was arrested on the same charge. “
Farhad Salmanpour Zahir has previously been arrested, prosecuted and jailed on several occasions on charges such as “acting against the internal and external security of the Islamic Republic”, “propaganda against the system”, “disturbing public opinion” and “insulting the sacred”.
