On Wednesday and Thursday last week, at least 15 prisoners sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder” and “drug dealing” were executed in Karaj, Sanandaj, Orumieh, Isfahan, Boroujerd and Salmas.
The Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners has been informed that a female inmate named Leila Zarafshan, after 5 years of imprisonment for “premeditated murder”, has been executed in central prison in Sanandaj on Thursday morning, September 26th, 2019.
According to an informed campaign source, “Leila Zarafshan was sentenced to death on charges of ‘premeditated murder’ by the Iranian judiciary and efforts to obtain the victim’s family consent has failed.”
On the other hand, it has been reported that the execution of three prisoners sentenced to death on the charges of “drug dealing” was carried out in the Orumiyeh prison on Sunday September 29th, 2019. They were transferred to solitary confinement on September 28th, 2019.
According to the Kurdish Human Rights Network, on Thursday, September 26th, 2019, three prisoners on death row, named Raouf (Azad) Azadikhah, Ebrahim (North) Ahmadipour and Soudin (Shahabuddin) Mohammadpour were executed in Orumiyeh prison. They were transferred from Ward 15 of Orumiyeh Central Prison to solitary confinement before execution.
Raouf Azadikhah and Ebrahim Ahmadipour were arrested and sentenced to death in a joint case nearly three years ago on “drug” charges. Soudin Mohammadpour has also been in prison for about six years on a similar charge and sentences.
The Iranian Human Rights Organization reported that eight prisoners were executed in Rajaii Shahr prison in Karaj on Wednesday September 25th, 2019.
According to the report, on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019, four inmates sentenced to death on drug charges were transferred from Rajzai Shahr prison to Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj and were executed. The death sentence for Mustafa Bakhtiy, who was convicted of “premeditated murder” during a street fight, was carried out on the same day.
In another report, on the same day on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019, three other prisoners were executed in the Rajzai Shahr prison. The identity of one of the executed prisoners, Mojtaba Soleimani, born in Kermanshah was obtained. He was convicted of retribution for “premeditated murder” and was transferred to solitary confinement last week from ward 7, saloon 19, known as the AIDS Patient Hall.
An informed source previously told Iranian Human Rights Organization: “Some years ago, someone went to Mojtaba’s house for robbery and Mojtaba got in fight with the robber and robber was killed and now they want to execute him.”
Another inmate convicted of “premeditated murder” was also among those executed on Wednesday. He had been transferred to solitary confinement from a Rajai Shahr prison cell, but his identity has not been obtained.
There was also a female inmate who was sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder of her husband is among the prisoners that were executed”
The Iranian Human Rights Organization website also reported that on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019, a prisoner was executed in the Boroujerd prison. The identity of this prisoner who was sentenced to death on drug charges has been identified as Sultan Fathi Rad, from Aliabad neighborhood in Boroujerd. Aliabad neighborhood is one of the very poor areas of Boroujerd.
On Thursday, September 26th, 2019, a prisoner was executed in Isfahan Central Prison. The identity of the prisoner who was convicted of retribution for “premeditated murder” has not been disclosed.
Mohammad Reza Habibi, the chief justice of Isfahan’s justice ministry, said in a statement: “In 2017, the defendant with his brother help, with the goal of stealing, killed a truck driver, stolen the cargo, and intentionally set truck on fire.”
On Thursday, September 26th, 2019, a prisoner was executed in Salmas Prison. The prisoner who was convicted of retribution for “premeditated murder” was Ali Amizadeh.
An informed source told the Iranian Human Rights Organization about the execution of the Ali Amizadeh: “He was arrested six years ago for the murder of his cousin. They clashed in the farm for the water source and his cousin was killed in the conflict. “
