December Protests; Student Protester, Mohsen Haghshenas, was Transferred to Prison to Serve his Prison Terms

Mohsen Haghshenas, a Stage Designer student at the University of Tehran’s, who was sentenced to prison by the judiciary, when appeared at the Evin Public Prosecutor’s Office today, was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve a one-year sentence.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019, Mohsen Haghshenas, a student at the University of Tehran, was arrested by a judicial official at the Evin Prosecutor’s Office and transferred to Evin to serve his one-year imprisonment sentence.

Mr. Haghshenas was summoned to the Evin Prosecutor’s Office for serving his one-year prison sentence, by a letter that he received in September.

This student was arrested in Tehran following student protests on January 1st, 2018. He was temporarily released on bail on January 16th, 2018.

The student was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in Tehran’s Revolutionary Court on charges of “gathering and colluding to commit crimes against national security” and “disturbing public order through participation in illegal gatherings”, on March 5th, 2018. The sentence was reduced to one year in Branch 54 of the Court of Appeal presided over by Judge Babaei.
