Parvin Advaei was Transferred to Prison to Serve her Sentence

Parvin Advaei was transferred to the Sanandaj Correctional Center to serve her sentence. The civil activist was sentenced to 5 years in prison in a lower court, which was reduced to two years by the appeal court.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Parvin Advaei was transferred to the Sanandaj Correctional Center to serve her two-year sentence on Thursday January 30th, 2020.

Ms. Advaei was sentenced to 5 years in prison for “cooperating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government (PJAK)” by the Revolutionary Court, which was reduced to 2 years imprisonment after appeal and re-trial.

The Kurdish activist was arrested by security forces in Marivan and at her father’s home on Saturday, September 27th, 2019. After 90 days of detention, she was releases temporarily from the Sanandaj Correctional Center on 500 million Tomans bail.

Informed sources told the Campaign: ” On Saturday, September 27th, 2019, after arresting her at her father’s house, security agents searched the house and seized some of her personal belonging.”

On Sunday, September 29th, 2019, Ms. Advaei was transferred from the Intelligence Office’s detention center to the Sanandaj Correctional Center, known as the Women’s Ward.

Prior to her arrest, Ms. Advaei is said to have been following a child abuse case from the village of Celine Huraman. She was also a civil activist in the Marivan area for women and children.
