Objection to Temporarily Release of Imprisoned Medical Doctor Nasser Fahimi

The judiciary has opposed the request for temporarily release of medical doctor Nasser Fahimi, imprisoned in Greater Tehran Prison.

According to the Campaign for Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the judiciary rejected the request for the release of Nasser Fahimi, a political prisoner of conscience. The temporarily released was requested in late March, 2020, because of the spread of the Coronavirus.

However, due to the acute conditions of prisons due to the spread of the Coronavirus, the judiciary has granted inmates leave to reduce the overcrowding in prisons and has granted a number of temporarily releases.

Nasser Fahimi, a Kurdish Sunni political prisoner and physician after requesting for revocation his Iranian citizenship because of the dictatorship government and sending numerous statements against the regime, supporting parties and opposition groups to the Islamic Republic, revealing human rights abuses by the regime in and outside of prison, lead to his exile from Evin Prison to Greater Tehran Prison, as well as a new case in the Special Security Court against him.
