Azerbaijani Activist, Mohammad Mahmoudi was Sentenced to Prison

Turkish (Azerbaijani) activist Mohammad Mahmoudi was sentenced to prison terms in Branch 1 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court on Wednesday, May 13th, 2020.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, “Mohammad Mahmoudi”, a Turkish (Azerbaijani) activist was sentenced to four months in prison in Branch 1 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court that was held on Wednesday, May 13th, 2020. He was arrested during a nationwide protest in November 2019 and released on bail on February 26th, 2020.

“Mohammad Mahmoudi”, a residence of Tabriz, was arrested by intelligence agents and taken to an unknown location on Sunday night, November 17, 2019.

An informed source told the Campaign: “After Mr. Mahmoudi’s arrest, his family was summoned by the Tabriz Intelligence Service’s headquarters and his wife and young daughter were interrogated in an illegal and inhumane process by asking unrelated questions.”

Earlier on May 25th, 2018, he was arrested by the security forces in a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the May 2006 protests in Naqadeh.
