A Kurdish Sunni activist has been sentenced to death, and ten others have been sentenced to a total of thirty-seven years in prison
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mohi-ud-Din Tazeh Wared, a Sunni Kurdish citizen from Oshnoyeh, who is being held in Urmia Central Prison, was tried by Branch 2 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ali Sheikhlou, on charges of “membership in Salafi groups” and was sentenced to death. Ten other Sunni activists, including a seventy-year-old citizen, were sentenced as well. The sentences were officially announced to them on July 2nd, 2020.
The 11 Kurdish Sunni citizens were detained by security forces in the second half of the year 2018 and transferred to Urmia Prison.
Abdulsalam Mardan Razgeh, was arrested by security forces in Oshnoyeh at the same time as Mohioudin Tazehvard on November 28, 2016. He was transferred to Urmia Intelligence Detention Center after being interrogated. He was temporarily released on a heavy bail of 2 billion and 500 million tomans last week and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the exact reason.
The sentences handed down to Sunni activists are as follows: ” Mohi-ud-Din Tazeh Wared ” son of Yusuf, 25 years old, from Oshnoyeh, sentenced to death; “Abdulsalam Mardan Razgeh”, son of Mohamad, from Oshnoyeh, on charges of “membership in religious groups”, sentenced to 10 years in prison; “Alireza Fattah Moradi”, son of Siddiq, from Buchan, on charges of “membership in religious groups”, sentenced to 10 years in prison; “Mamousta Rahmat Nasouhi”, from Mahabad, on charges of “membership in religious groups”, sentenced to 10 years in prison; “Hesam Mohamadi Khajlou”, son of Hassan, from Oshnoyeh, on charges of “propaganda against the regime”, sentenced to 1 years in prison; “Nezam Naderi”, son of Rahman, from Buchan, on charges of “Propaganda against the regime” sentenced to 1 years in prison; “Jallal Rostami Noruzlou”, son of Abobakr, from Mahabad, on charges of “propaganda against the regime”, sentenced to 1 years in prison;
“Mamousta Abdullah Maroufi: 70 years old, from Mahabad, on charges of “Propaganda against the regime” sentenced to 1 years in prison; Ahmad Elahi, from Mahabad, on charges of “Propaganda against the regime” sentenced to 1 years in prison; “Khaled Ghafari”, from Sardasht, on charges of “Propaganda against the regime” sentenced to 1 years in prison; “Shirzad” from Mahabad on charges of “Propaganda against the regime” sentenced to 1 years in prison.
