Sediq Safi was Sent to Sanandaj Prison to Serve a Five-year Prison Sentence

Today, Monday, August 31st, 2020, Sediq Safi, a Kurdish residence from Dyvandereh, Kurdistan, presented himself to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve a five-year prison sentence.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Sediq Safi, a residence of Diwandara, Kurdistan, was trailed by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Saeedi, on charges of “acting against national security” by collaborating with a Kurdish opposition party to Iranian government and was sentenced to 5 years in prison on March of 2020. Today, August 31st, 2020, he was sent to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve his sentence.

In March 2020, Sediq Safi was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Saeedi, to five years in prison on charges of “acting against national security” through cooperation with the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).

The sentence was confirmed in the Court of Appeals on May 21st, 2020.

Sediq Safi was arrested by security forces at his workplace, a bakery in Dyvandereh city, and taken to unknown location on Thursday morning, August 8, 2019.

He was temporarily released from detention on 200 million Tomans bail on October 9th, 2019.

Today, Monday, August 31st, 2020, Sediq Safi, a Kurdish residence from Dyvandereh, Kurdistan, presented himself to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve a five-year prison sentence.
