Transfer of a Kurdish Religious Activist to Urmia Central Prison

A Kurdish religious activist was transferred from the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center to the city’s central prison after being interrogated and charged.

Arkan Alizadeh, a residence of Urmia, was arrested by the security forces, on charges of “propaganda for Salafi groups” and was transferred to the detention center of the Urmia Intelligence Office for interrogation and informing on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020. He was transferred to the central prison of this city on September 12th, 2020.

This Kurdish citizen has been charged by the investigator of Branch 6 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Urmia with “collaborating with Salafi groups opposed to the regime.”

After completing the interrogation and informing the charges, the investigator of Branch 6 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Urmia has issued a bail of 300 million Tomans bail Arkan Alizadeh temporary release. 

According to Kurdpa, despite the issuance of bail for the temporary release of this Kurdish citizen, the Urmia Intelligence Agency has opposed his temporary release.

It is said that after being transferred from the detention center of the Urmia Intelligence Office, Arkan Alizadeh was held in the quarantine ward called “Talash” for 8 days, after which he was transferred to the political prison ward of Urmia Central Prison
