Samaneh Norouz Moradi was Transferred to Rudsar Prison

Samaneh Norouz Moradi, a political prisoner serving her sentence in Evin Prison, has been transferred to Rudsar Prison.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Samaneh Norouz Moradi, a political prisoner who was serving a 3-year and 9-month sentence in the women’s ward of Evin Prison, was transferred to Rudsar Prison on Wednesday, October 21st, 2020.

The political prisoner, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in Evin Prison and in urgent need of surgery and treatment, is still denied access to medical services.

On Sunday, October 11th, 2020, Samaneh Norouz Moradi was sent to Imam Khomeini Hospital for surgery after consulting a prison health doctor and being diagnosed with a hair cyst, but was returned to Evin Prison without medical treatment.

Samaneh Norouz Moradi, despite suffering from lupus erythematosus, diabetes, kidney stones, intestinal inflammation, and has also been diagnosed with breast cancer, still does not have access to medical care in prison.

Due to her poor physical condition, this political prisoner is not eligible for imprisonment, but judicial and security officials do not pay attention to her condition and she has been deprived of the right to medical treatment and services.

Ms. Norouz Moradi was arrested by security agencies on charges of working on social networks such as the Telegram and the “Return of Prince Reza Pahlavi Campaign” campaign on September 2017. Later, she was released on 500 million Tomans bail.

Tehran Revolutionary Court Branch 26, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, sentenced her to eight years in prison on charges of “supporting opposition groups on social media.” This sentence was later reduced to 3 years and 9 months by appeal court.

This political prisoner was arrested to serve his sentence and transferred to Evin Prison on April 24th, 2019.

On May 19TH, 2020, Ms. Norouz Moradi, in a call from Evin Prison, announced the development of a new case against her in the Fourth Branch of the Evin Court.

Ms. Norouz Moradi was recently sentenced for publishing a one-minute video message during her Nowruz temporary prison leave, during which security forces reopened a new case against her for using the phrase “Javid Shah” in the video.

While serving her prison sentence in Evin Prison, this political prisoner was again sentenced to 15 months in prison by the Revolutionary Court in a new case on charges of “propaganda against the regime” in July 2020.
