A Prisoner was Executed in Shiraz Central Prison on Charges of “Premeditated Murder.”

اعدام

The death sentence of a prisoner sentenced to retaliation (execution) for “premeditated murder” was carried out in Shiraz Central Prison.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, a man was executed in Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad) on the morning of Wednesday, February 2nd,  2022. The unidentified prisoner was about 36 years old and had been sentenced to retaliation for “premeditated murder”.

According to an informed source, the execution of this prisoner took place due to his inability to pay blood money to victim’s parents.

As of this writing, the Iranian media or official sources have remained silent about the execution of this prisoner.

According to the Human Rights Organization of Iran annual report, at least 211 executions out of 267 executions carried out in Iran in 2020 were charged with “premeditated murder.”

Lack of grading for premeditated murder in Iran causes any type of murder, regardless of the severity, weakness and motive of the accused, to result in the death sentence.
