A political prisoner detained in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj sent an audio file from the prison announcing that he and two other prisoners had been transferred to solitary confinement because of their protest to the detention conditions of a civil activist.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mehdi Maskin Nawaz, while announcing his transfer to solitary confinement along with Arsham Rezaei and Reza Mohammad Hosseini, stated that the reason for the transfer was that they protested in support of Zarathustra Ahmadi Ragheb, a civil activist imprisoned in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj and his detention in solitary confinement cell.

He stated: Hassan Ghobadi, the deputy director of health in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, has promised to transfer Mr. Ahmadi Ragheb to the prison hall after 14 days.

“When we told Vali Ali Mohammadi, the director of the Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, about these circumstances, he accused us of lying-in defense of Ghobadi,” he said.

Mr. Maskin Nawaz also reported that Reza Mohammad Hosseini had been beaten by prison officials.

Noting that Zarathustra Ahmadi Ragheb is being held in solitary confinement without a court order, he strongly protests against the terrible conditions of holding detainees in solitary confinement named “suite” and the lack of health and food security.

Mr. Maskin Nawaz, Mr. Rezaei and Mr. Mohammad Hosseini, with their protesting, demanded that Mr. Ahmadi Ragheb be assigned to Hall 10 of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.

The political prisoners emphasized that they would go on a hunger strike until Mr. Ahmadi Ragheb was assigned and transferred to the prison hall.
