With the constant pursuit of activists, trade associations, and Mohammad Habibi’s family, today on March 17th, 2018, the detention of this activist was changed to bail.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the Telegraph Teachers and Workers’ Rights Telegram Channel, confirming the news, said: “Fortunately, with the constant pursuit of activists, trade associations, and Mohammad Habibi’s family, today, March 17th, 2018, the detention of this activist was changed to bail”

Mohammad Habibi, 39, and trade association’s board member, was arrested by security guards at his workplace, Andisheh Conservatory in Shahriar, in front of his student and transferred to section 2A of the Revolutionary Guard’s information office based in Evin Prison.

On March 3rd, 2018, without a summons, or even showing the arrest warrant, this activist was arrested at his workplace using firearms, pepper spray, and beating.

Earlier, more than 2,000 trade and civil activists called for the release of Mohammad Habibi (Teachers’ Activist) by signing a petition in cyberspace.

Mohammad Habibi is a critic of educational policies and privatization, and considers the education system becoming a business unconstitutional.

In recent years, the Islamic Republic has increased threat, arrest, and imprisonment of trade association activists and teachers’ right’s activists.  During a traditional division of responsibilities, the two main security agencies in Iran, the Ministry of Intelligence and the Revolutionary Guards, each have their own separate activities. The teachers and their activities are suppressed by both institutions. Over the past 10 years, many teachers have been arrested, detained, exiled, or fired with simultaneous filing of the Ministry of Intelligence and the Revolutionary Guard.

Ismail Abdi and Mahmoud Beheshti, two leaders of Tehran Teachers’ Association, are currently sentenced and imprisoned by a case filed by Hassan Rouhani’s Ministry of Intelligence and at the same time a case filed by Revolutionary Guards.
