Harsh Sentences for Thirty-Nine Gonabadi Darvishes

۳۹ Gonabadi dervishes arrested in Golestan Haftom Street event, sentenced to total of 208 years imprisonment, 1,554 lashes, 8 years of deprivation of social activities and 10 years of exile, by Revolutionary Court Branches 15 and 26.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the Gonabadi Dervish group trial and the heavy sentences in a brief trial, which lasted several minutes for each Darwish, has been faced with a protest response from the public opinion and the country’s legal community.

Majzoban Nour, a news agency close to Dervishes, has announced that it will shortly publish a list of judicial breaches in Gonabadi’s trail and verdicts.

The list of the names and sentences for this 40 Dervishes quoted by this news agency is as follows:

Vahid Khameushi: 12 years imprisonment and 2 years exile to Rhine

Alireza Azadravesh: 7 years imprisonment, 74 lashes and 2 years exile to Kahnouj

Ali Karimi: 7 years imprisonment, 2 years exile to Borazjan and 74 lashes

Ehsan Malekmohammadi: 7 years imprisonment, 2 years exile to Zabul and 74 lashes

Ehsan Safari: 7 years imprisonment, 74 lashes and 2 years exile to Zabol

Arman Abulfathi: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Armin Abulfathi: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Morteza Sohrabpour: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Saeid Khamoushi: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Mohammadasad Zamani: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Masoud Alamadadi: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Majid Rashidi: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Amir Sayidi: 7 years imprisonment and 74 lashes

Earlier, eight Gonabadi dervishes in Tehran’s Grand Prison were sentenced to 34 years imprisonment, 296 lashes, and 6 years of deprivation of social rights.

Ten other Darwish Gonabadi were also sentenced to 69 years imprisonment, 444 lashes, 14 years of exile, 4 years of banned from leaving the country, and 8 years of deprivation of social activities.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 119 years imprisonment was issued for 23 Darvishes in Tehran’s Revolutionary Court. The trial of eight other detainees from Golestan Haftum street event, was held in Tehran’s Revolutionary Court on May 26th, 2018, while none of them had the permission for a lawyer.

Also, 40 of the Gonabadi dervishes were sentenced to 2 to 7 years imprisonment, slashes in court 15 and 26, headed by Judge Salevati and Judge Ahmadzadeh.

For 12 Gonabadi Darvishes’s women, detained in Tehran’s Grand Prison, a total of 57 years of imprisonment was issued by the Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Salevati and Judge Ahmadzadeh.

Four women Darwish prisoners, detained in the Gharchak prison in Varamin, were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court.

Some of detainee’s critical health conditions have been reported and news sources have told the Campaign for Defend of Political and Civilian Prisoners that, some of the detainees have been tortured or beaten during interrogation and detention.

Informed sources previously reported the lack of legal proceedings in the Dervishes case, and all of them were subject to heavy sentences in multinational trials with general security charges, such as disturbing public order or disturbing national security.

News sources told the campaign: “The detained dervishes have been deprived of their basic rights since the beginning of their arrest, and their courts have been held without legal procedures and the rights to a lawyer and contrary to the rules of criminal procedure.”

“Collaboration against national security”, “action against national security”, “disturbance in the order”, “disregard for the order of the police” and “disturbing the general order of society” are among the charges against the detainees.
