Despite the 500 million Tomans bail, the temporary release of Hussein Kamangar, a member of the Kurdistan National Unity Party and a resident of Kamyaran, has been prevented due to the involvement of security agencies. The Kurdish citizen was arrested by security forces in January last year and remains in detention at the Kamyaran Central Prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019, despite the 500 million Tomans bail that was provided by the family of Hossein Kamangar, the Second Branch of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Revolutionary Court of Kamyaran, prevented his release, because of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office interfered.
Mr. Kamangar has been pressured since his arrest to cooperate with security investigators to obtain a forced confession. Since February 6th, 2019, because of no cooperation with security interrogators for force confessions, he has not been able to visit his family.
On July 18th, 2019, he went on a hunger strike in protest to his continued detention and deprive of family visitation rights. On August 10th, 2019, after a promise of his case will be tried and his transfer to Kamyaran Revolutionary, he ended his hunger strike.
The citizen went on a hunger strike because of his continued detention and failure to contact his family since July 9th, which resulted in a hunger strike on Saturday, August 8, promising officials to investigate the case and transfer him to Kamyaran Prison on hunger strike. His protest ended.
On Saturday January 5th, 2019, at 11 PM, Sanandaj Intelligence Office agents arrested Mr. Kamangar without a court order and with “physical violence” in Kamyaran and transferred him to the Intelligence Detention Center in Sanandaj.
It was reported at that security forces went to his home after Mr. Kamangar’s arrest and seized some of his personal belongings.
One a week after the arrest of Mr. Kamangar, his daughter and wife, Nahid Kamangar and Nasrin Naqdi, had been summoned to the Sanandaj Intelligence Agency’s press office for questioning.
Between January 1st to 6th, 2019, security forces arrested Mr Kamangar along with a number of environmental and civil activists including Amanj Ghorbani, Bakhtiar Kamangar, Mehdi Kani Souri, Be Razan Babakeri, Zaniar Zamiran, Farhad Mohammadi, Fazel Qitasi, Reza Asadi, Hadi Kamangar, Rashid Montazeri, Isa Feizi in Kurdistan province and taken to the Sanandaj Intelligence Office for questioning.
It is necessary to explain that all environmental activist detainees, except Mr. Kamangar, have been temporarily released on bail until the end of their case processing.
