Akbar Gouili, a Residence of Sanandaj, was Arrested

Akbar Gouili, a civil activist and former member of the Kurdistan Green Movement, was arrested after appearing before the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, this Kurdish residence of Sanandaj, Akbar Guili, was arrested after a appearing before the city’s court on Saturday, December 7th, 2019.

According to the report, no information is available on the reason for Mr. Guili’s arrest or whereabouts at this time, but sources close to him reported that he was summoned in recent days to the Sanandaj’s Revolutionary Court for reviewing his case.

On Tuesday, August 20th, 2019, Sanandaj Intelligence Services agents arrested Akbar Guili and taken him to the agency detention center for questioning. He was temporary released on 500 million Tomans bail on Sunday September 8th, 2019.

An informed source told the campaign: “On Tuesday evening, August 20th, when Mr. Gouili was on his way back from Tehran to Sanandaj, his car was stopped by security forces in Feyzabad neighborhood of Sanandaj and he was arrested and taken to the Sanandaj Intelligence detention center. “

Security forces also went to his home in Kilaneh village, Sanandaj, to arrest him on July 25th, 2019. Since he was not home, after the house search, they left the house.

Since 1992, Mr. Gouili has been repeatedly arrested by security forces and sentenced to prison terms by the judiciary system.

The residence of Sanandaj was sentenced to two years in exile in Saghez after four months of interrogation at the Intelligence Ministry detention on charges of “acting against national security by cooperating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties” in 2011.

Mr. Gouili was summoned to the Sanandaj Intelligence Agency’s News headquarters because of his involvement in Norouz ceremony in the village of Ghasrian in March 2016. After two days of detention, he was released on 150 million Tomans bail.

Hussein Saeedi, the head of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court’s Branch 1, sentenced him to one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime”, which was reduced to four months following his protest and re-examination his case in the fourth branch of the Kurdistan Province Court.

In February last year, Mr. Gouili was summoned to the Sanandaj Branch of the Enforcement where he was detained and taken to prison to serve his prison term.
