Reza Mohammad Hosseini was Taken to Hospital After a Hunger Strike and Serious Health Condition

Reza Mohammad Hosseini, a political prisoner held in ward 4 of Evin Prison, was taken to Taleghani Hospital in Tehran after a hunger strike and sewing his lips and deteriorating health. Reportedly, he was returned to Evin Prison clinic from Taleghani Hospital after few hours as he refused to receive serum/IV and medical treatment. After return, with order of Gholamreza Ziai, the head of Evin Prison, he was transferred to Quarantine Ward of prison.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Reza Mohammad Hosseini, a political prisoner held in ward 4 of Evin Prison, who was sentenced to 16 years and 6 months imprisonment in the Revolutionary Court Branch 28 presided by judge Moghasi, was taken to Taleghani Hospital in Tehran after a hunger strike in protest to his sentencing and health deterioration and at verge of comma and returned to Evin Quarantine Ward on February 12th, 2020.

An informed source told the Campaign: “Reza sewed his lips a week ago. On Wednesday, he who was taken to Evin Prison clinic due to a serious physical condition and his lips was opened by force and violence, but despite authorities’ insistence he refused to receive any serum/IV. This leads to his transfer to Taleghani Hospital.”

According to the report, Mr. Mohammad Hosseini at Taleghani Hospital refused to receive serum/IV or any medical care to improve his condition, so he was taken back to Evin prison Clinic on Thursday 7 AM.

According to the informed source, Mr. Mohammad Hosseini told Zia’i that he would continue his hunger strike and will refuse ay medical services or IVs until his request was considered, and Ziai had transferred him to a quarantine ward.

Mr. Mohammad Hosseini was arrested by the Revolutionary Court Intelligence Services in May of 2019. He was taken to Ward 2-A of Evin Prison for interrogation and forced confession.

After 3 months. this political prisoner was transferred from Ward 2-A to Quarantine Section of Evin Prison. After 70 days, he was transferred to ward 4 of Evin Prison.

Mr. Mohammad Hossein, in protest to his arrest and not issuing bail for his temporary release, started a hunger strike on December 1st, 2019. On the thirty-fifth day of his hunger strike, he was transferred to the prison’s health facility.

The political prisoner held in ward 4 of Evin Prison was sentenced to 16 years and 6 months imprisonment in the Revolutionary Court Branch 28 presided by judge Moghasi, on charges of “gathering and colluding against the state”, “insulting the leadership”, “disobeying orders” and “Illegal Exit/Entry”. If the verdict becomes final, seven years and six months of the sentencing is executable.
