Saber Ghaderi, a Kurdish activist residing in Dehgolan, in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, and a member of the environmental organization “Creen Population of Lilakh”, was sentenced by Branch 4 of the Kurdistan Court of Appeals to 3 years in prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Saber Ghaderi, a Kurdish civil activist who had been sentenced in the primary court to 6 years in prison on charges of “membership in a Kurdish opposition party” and “propaganda activities against the state”, was recently sentenced by Branch 4 of the Kurdistan Court of Appeals, headed by Judge Tayyari, to 3 years imprisonment.
According to reports, Branch 4 of the Kurdistan Court of Appeals sentenced the Kurdish civil activist to 2 years and 4 months in prison on charges of “membership in a Kurdish anti-regime party” and to 8 months in prison for “propaganda activities against the state”, which pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the sentence of 2 years and 4 months imprisonment will be applicable to this citizen.
The first hearing of the charges against Saber Ghaderi was held in June of this year by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, presided over by Judge Saeedi.
This Kurdish citizen was totally sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of “membership in a Kurdish anti-regime party” and to 1 year in prison for “propaganda against the state.”
Kurdish citizen Saber Ghaderi residing in Dehgolan, was arrested on Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home by Ministry of Intelligence agents.
This civil activist, who is a member of the environmental organization “Green Population of Lilakh”, was transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center after being detained by security forces.
After 3 months of detention and completion of interrogation and being charged, he was temporarily released on a 200 million Toman bail, pending trial.
It is said that Mr. Ghaderi was arrested by the security forces in October 2014 during a protest rally in support of the people of Kobani (a Kurdish-majority city in northern Syria).
“Green Population of Lilakh” is an environmental organization that during the past years, has implemented activities such as holding environmental exhibitions, preventing the destruction and turning of Surmeli recreational mountain into a mine, planting trees, collecting garbages in nature, holding environmental camps for students, working in the field of animals rights, firefighting in the area and outside the city, as well as helping earthquake victims.
