During the past few days, two porters were wounded in the Nosud’s heights and Sardasht borders by military forces gunfire and were taken to medical centers.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on October 13th, 2020, a porter from the Jojar village, one of Babajani’s three villages, was shot in the leg by military forces and taken to a hospital in Paveh.

It is reported that this porter was injured in the border of “Nosud” in Kermanshah province.

The health condition of this porter, who is identified as “Vasir Weissi”, is reported to be serious.

It was also reported that on October 10th, 2020, another porter named “Rahmat Amini” from the village of “Darmkon” in the Sardasht district was wounded by the armed forces.

Efforts by the campaign to obtain more information on Mr. Amini’s condition have so far been unsuccessful.

Three provinces of Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and West Azerbaijan are on the Iran border with Iraq, and Turkey, which are the main area of the porter’s work. Porters are people who, due to lack of employment and widespread economic problems in the border areas, are forced to carry goods from Iran to Iraq and vise-versa with low wages and using the informal customs route. Every year tens of Porters killed or wounded by direct firing of the border guards, cold, drowning in the river, or falling from altitude.
