Maryam Samghani was Transferred to Evin Prison to Serve her Prison Sentence

Maryam Samghani, a civil activist living in Gorgan was transferred to the quarantine ward of Evin Prison to serve her sentence. She was sentenced to prison by the Revolutionary Court.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Maryam Samghani, was transferred to the quarantine ward of Evin Prison on Wednesday, June 30th, 2021. She was previously sentenced to two years and 91 days in prison for two cases by the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
Ms. Samghani was arrested at her home to serve her sentence at noon on Tuesday, June 29th, 2021.
During the arrest, security forces confiscated her mobile phone and took it with themselves.
The civil activist had previously been sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Afshari, to 91 days in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
The verdict was upheld by the appeal court.
Examples of charges against the civil activist include “interviews with foreign networks” and “supporting Reza Pahlavi.”
In another case in December 2019, Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, sentenced her to five years in prison on charges of “conspiracy and collusion against national security” and to one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
This verdict was confirmed by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals.
According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, 5 years imprisonment, will be applicable to this civil activist.
Maryam Samghani, a civil activist living in Gorgan, was summoned and arrested by the Second Branch of the Evin Security Court on Wednesday, July 8th, 2021.
After her arrest, Ms. Samghani was transferred to Ward 1A of the IRGC for
Ms. Samghani was charged by the Second Branch of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office with “conspiracy against national security,” “insulting the leadership,” and “propaganda against the regime”.
Maryam Samghani was temporarily released on a one-billion-toman bail on Saturday, July 18th, 2020.
Before that, this citizen was also arrested by security forces at her workplace in Gorgan at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 29th, 2019
She was transferred to the Ministers’ Detention Center for interrogation, and from there to the IRGC’s Intelligence Unit 1.
This civil activist was temporarily released from prison on bail on Thursday, August 15th, 2019.
