Execution of Two Prisoners on Charges of “Premeditated Murder” in Lakan Prison in Rasht

The death sentences of Mostafa Poorahmad and Mojtaba Bagheri, who had previously been sentenced to death for premeditated murder, were carried out in Lakan Prison in Rasht.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners; the death sentences of two prisoners, identified as Mostafa Poorahmad and Mojtaba Bagheri, were carried out in Lakan Prison in Rasht in the morning of Thursday, November 18th, 2021.

The executions of Mostafa Poorahmad and Mojtaba Bagheri have not been announced by the Iranian media or official sources as of this writing.

An informed source regarding the execution of the two prisoners told the Human Rights Organization of Iran: “It was said that the sentence of these two prisoners will be carried out on Saturday, but they executed them today. The parents of the two prisoners were represented by the prosecutor and were not presented during the execution.”

Earlier, the Iranian Human Rights Organization announced the transfer of the two prisoners to solitary confinement to serve their sentences.

According to the annual report of the Human Rights Organization of Iran, at least 211 executions out of 267 executions carried out in Iran in 2020 were charged with “premeditated murder.”

Lack of grading for premeditated murder in Iran causes any type of murder, regardless of the severity, weakness and motive of the accused, to result in the death sentence.
