حیدر قربانی

The image of the death certificate of Haidar Ghorbani, who was executed on December 19th, 2021, shows that the authorities of the Islamic Republic refused to state the cause of death and wrote the cause of death as “unknown.”

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, refusing to admit the execution of political prisoners in the Islamic Republic has a long history. Some of the families of the victims of the massacre of political prisoners in 1988 have not yet been able to receive the death certificates of their loved ones. In many cases, the certificates were issued without mentioning the word execution.

According to the report, Hamid Nouri, one of the defendants in 1988 massacre of political prisoners’ case, who is currently on trial in a Swedish court for this reason, when confronted with this question, claimed that the families of the prisoners themselves requested that the word “execution” not be written on the certificates. The families of the victims deny his claim.

“The death certificate of Haidar Ghorbani is another document that shows that the documents of the Islamic Republic, especially regarding the executions, are not valid and cannot be relied on,” said Mahmoud Amiri Moghaddam, director of the Human Rights Organization of Iran.

The photo of Haidar Ghorbani’s death certificate, a copy of which was provided to the Human Rights Organization of Iran, states that the cause of death is “unknown.” Meanwhile, the media of the Islamic Republic quoting official, published the news of his execution.

Haidar Ghorbani, a Kurdish political prisoner, was executed in Sanandaj Prison on Sunday, December 19th, 2021, on charges of “revolt.” His execution took place while, according to his lawyer, “he was never armed and did not take part in any armed action.”

The agents executed him without informing his family or lawyer, and they buried the body secretly. Haidar Ghorbani was executed, while his case was being processed under Article 477 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (retrial).
