Six Porters Were Injured in the Baneh’s Border Areas

Six porters from the cities of Saqez, Bukan and Baneh were wounded in the leg, head, back and waist areas by Hengejal, Baneh border areas forces direct fire.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the armed forces opened fire with shotguns at a group of porters in the border areas of Hengejal Baneh and as a result six porters were injured in the head, back, legs and waist on , on the evening of Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.

The identity of these porters, Ismail Rahimi, Johar (last name unknown), Mohammad Rashidzadeh from Ayoub village and Farzad Faraji, 26 years old, all four from Saqez city, Siamand (last name unknown) from Bukan and Mehdi Jamali, 28 years old from Baneh city, have been confirmed.

These victims have been taken to medical centers. The severity of the injuries to these people is not yet known.

porter is a pseud and difficult job that people in the border areas turn to due to the lack of job opportunities. Dozens of people are killed or injured every year in the face of natural hazards or by the border guards’ direct fires.

The three provinces of Kurdistan, Kermanshah and West Azerbaijan in the border strip of Iran with Iraq and Turkey are the main places of activity of people who turn to porters due to the lack of employment and extensive economic problems.

Every year, dozens of people from porters are killed or injured due to direct firing by border guards, cold, drowning in the river and falling from a height.
