Mahsa, Maryam, and Meysam Basir-Tavana, siblings of Mehran Basir-Tavana, one of the victims of Woman, Life, Freedom nation wide protest, were detained by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location on April 24th, 2024.

According to the Campaign for Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, these three individuals have been detained at their homes. As of now, the reasons for their detention and their whereabouts are unknown.

Previously, members of the Basir-Tavana family have been subjected to harassment and persecution. Meysam Basir-Tavana was summoned to the Fooman Court last year, and Mahsa Basir-Tavana was detained twice in the months in July 2023.

Mehran Basir-Tavana, 29, lost his life due to gunshot wounds during the nationwide protests in November 2022 in Somesara.

The re-arrest of members of the Basir-Tavana family once again highlights the Islamic Republic’s policy of suppressing dissent and the families of protest martyrs.
