Ali Nejati, a Labor Activist, was Transferred to Shosh Prison’s Health Ward

Ali Nejati, a labor activist who had been transferred from a security detention facility to a hospital due to a heart attack, was transferred to the prison’s health ward.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civilian Prisoners, on December 23rd, 2018, Ali Nejati, said during a telephone call that he has been transferred to the “Health” section of Shosh prison.

This transfer took place while his second case was not referred to any of the branches of the prosecutor’s office. Mr Nejati’s interrogations were conducted with the prosecutor and, in effect, the end of Ali Nejati’s interrogation has not been announced yet.

It has been said that Ali Nejati, a member of the Haft Tapeh Syndicate, has been arrested for serving his previous convictions, but a new case has been issued to him later on for “participating in the Haft-Tapeh strikes.”

Earlier, on December 13th, 2018, Ali Nejati, a former chairman and members of the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Workers Syndicate, was transferred to Ahvaz Baghei Hospital due to severe heart problems.

This labor activist was under medical care for serious heart disease before being arrested.

On November 29th, 2018, Ali Nejati and his son, Payman Nejati, were arrested by security guards at his home and transferred to an unknown location.

During the arrest of this activist, it was reported that security forces entered the house without a court order and after the beating and insulting Ali Nejati and other family members, they arrested him and his son.

The Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Workers Syndicate, endorsing this report, while expressing its disgust at the continued illegal arrest of Ali Nejati, in a statement called for his immediate and unconditional release, warning that any physical impairment caused to Ali Nejati is the direct responsibility of the judicial and security authorities.

Ali Nejati has been prosecuted and detained many times because of civil and trade union activities.

Previously on September 15th, 2018, he was arrested by security forces, and after 34 days of arrest, was released on 100 million Tomans bails.

Ali Nejati was arrested by the security forces in 2009 and sentenced to prison terms.
