Anisha Asadullahi, a detained teacher residing in Tehran, has been denied visitation rights and the rights to call her family.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on June 27th, 2019, Evin Prison officials stated that the English teacher has been banned from visitation and any communication with the family, which was likely in response to Anisha Asadullahi’s family request for visit
Anisha Asadullahi was arrested on International Labor Day (May 1st, 2019), and was released on bail on Saturday May 4th, 2019. She was arrested once again by the Ministry of Intelligence at her workplace later on.
Security agents arrested Anisha Asadullahi at 21:30 on Tuesday June 18th, 2019, at Kamil Street in Tehran where she works. She was then transferred to Section 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence deployed at Evin Prison.
An informed source told the campaign: “After Mrs. Asadullahi’s arrest, twelve intelligence agents went to her brother’s house. In the absence of her brother, they entered his home, searched the house, and seized her brother’s personal belongings, including several laptops and an external hard drive. The security forces then went to Anisha’s home, where they searched and seized her personal belongings”.
However, no charges have been filed against her and the reason for her arrest is still unknown. The prison officials and judicial authorities are not responding to her family’s follow-up.
Mrs. Asadullahi was arrested on May 1, 2019, in front of the Parliament building in Tehran, along with a number of other participants at the International Labor Day Protest. She was released on bail on Saturday May 4th, 2019.
