Heavy Sentencing for Five Civil Activists by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran

Heavy sentencing for Somayeh Kargar, Nahid Taghavi, Bahareh Sisoleimani, Nazanin Mohammadnejad and Mehran Raouf were issued by Tehran Revolutionary Court and communicated to them.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners; Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Tribunal of Tehran sentenced five defendants, Somayeh Kargar, Nahid Taghavi, Bahareh Sisoleimani, Nazanin Mohammadnejad, and Mehran Raouf, to imprisonment and flogging.

On his Twitter account, Mustafa Neyli, a lawyer, announced the heavy prison sentences for Somayeh Kargar and his four other clients in a joint case alleging “participation in the management of an illegal group” and “propaganda against the regime.”

According to this lawyer, Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Tribunal of Tehran sentenced Nahid Taghavi and Mehran Raouf to 10 years in prison on charges of “participation in the management of an illegal group” and to eight months in prison for “propaganda activities against the regime.”

Somayeh Kargar and Bahareh Sisalimani were also each sentenced to six years in prison for “participating in the management of an illegal group” and to eight months in prison each for “propaganda activities against the regime.”

Nazanin Mohammadnejad, another defendant in this case, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for “participating in the management of an illegal group” and to eight months in prison for “propaganda activities against the regime.”
