The sentence of a child criminal prisoner named Hamidreza Azari, who was 16 years and 8 months old at the time of committing the crime, was executed in Sabzevar prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the media inside Iran published the news of a prisoner execution in Sabzevar on Friday November 24th, 2023. The identity of this prisoner was announced by media inside Iran as Hamidreza-A.
The documents found from this prisoner show that his name is Hamidreza Azari and he was 16 years and eight months old at the time of the alleged murder. Hamidreza was born on July 27th, 2006, and was accused of killing a person in a street fight on April 28th, 2023.
Hamidreza was 17 years and three months old at the time of his execution.
Iran is one of the few countries that sentences child criminals to death and performs the death penalty for juveniles more than all other countries.
According to the statistics of Iran Human Rights Organization, at least 68 child criminals have been executed in Iran since 2010.
