Hussein Taj submits request for Ismail Abdi Conditional Release

Hussein Taj, Teachers Trade Union activists’ lawyer, submitted another requested to the prosecutor’s office for Esmail Abdi probation release and leave.  He also said, “Mohammad Habibi trial (another member of Tehran Teachers’ Association) will be held in July 23rd, 2018.”

Hossein Taj, in an interview with Ilna’s correspondent, announced the submission of a request for Ismail Abdi conditional release.

“Again, Abdi’s request for probation release and leave has been handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office, and we hope he will be approved this time, given his medical condition,” he said. He continued: “We are closely pursuing the health and wellness of Ismail Abdi who suffers from kidney disease and chronic pain.” Ismail Abdi is serving his imprisonment sentence in Evin Prison.

The teacher was detained in Evin Prison, after the events of the Iranian culture’s protest against educational disruptions, and as a representative of the Teachers’ Union’s Coordinating Council for the World Summit of Teachers, intended to go to Canada on June 27th, 2015, but was arrested and sentenced to six years in prison in the preliminary court headed by Judge Salavati. He reported on frequency of Habibi’s family following up with authority and said: “His family regularly referred to various authorities such as the Minister of Justice, the Deputy Minister of Education, the 90th Commission, the Education and Judiciary Committee, the Human Rights Headquarters of the Judiciary and the Deputy Prosecutor of Tehran with first request of providing care for Mohamed Habibi as he does not have good physical condition, and second to transfer him to Evin Prison. “

Mohammad Habibi, 39, and a member of the board of directors of the Tehran Teachers’ Trade Union, on March 3rd, 2018, was arrested by the Revolutionary Guards, along with Rasul Yadoghi, Alieh Eghdamdost, Mohamadtaghi Falahi, Rahman Abdini, Esmail gerami, and Hassan Gholami.  Six of detainees were released on May 13th, 2018 on bail and Hohamad Habib was transferred to Tehran Great prison on May 15th, 2018.

Earlier, Mohammad Habibi, on March 3rd, 2018, was arrested by the Revolutionary Guards, on charges of acting against the security forces, and after a month and half interrogation without access to a lawyer was released on April 15th, 2018, on 250 million Toman bail.
