The creator of the “Emperor of Cuzco” character, Zeinab Mousavi, was arrested by the Tehran prosecutor. She has insulted holy things in cyberspace by creating content and publishing videos of herself that are sometimes humorous.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, was arrested by the order of the Tehran Prosecutor’s Office on Monday October 23rd, 2023. Zainab Mousavi, an Iranian comedian and the creator of the character “Emperor of Cuzco”, was accused of insulting sacred things due to the release of a humorous video.
According to this report, she, who insulted holy things by creating content and publishing videos of herself, sometimes humorous, in cyberspace, was arrested by the order of the Tehran Prosecutor’s Office.
Ms. Mousavi was summoned yesterday by the Tehran Prosecutor’s Office and a criminal case was open against her.
Zainab Mousavi, one of the first female stand-up comedy presenters in Iran and the creator of the “Emperor of Cuzco” character, was arrested by the security forces in Qom on October 12th, 2022. She was temporarily released on November 2022 on bail until the end of the proceedings.
She had previously announced that “during her detention, she was in solitary confinement for 25 days and then she was sentenced to two years in prison by a judicial authority.”
