Summoning and Interrogation of Labor Activists in Sanandaj

Majid Hamidi, Eghbal Shabani, Ghaleb Hosseini, Abdollah Kheirabadi, and Namegh Babakhani, all labor activists, were summoned and interrogated by the News Headquarters of the Intelligence Department on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, a reliable source stated: “After the interrogation, they were threatened that if they participated in any events symbolizing leftist or communist movements, such as those with red roses or red banners, they would be arrested and imprisoned.”

These well-known labor activists in Sanandaj have consistently worked to improve the conditions for workers, efforts that have been closely monitored and suppressed by security agencies.

This summoning occurs amidst a sharp increase in pressure on labor, environmental, and civil activists in Sanandaj in recent weeks. Following protests by civil activists against the Supreme Court’s approval of the death sentences for Varisheh Moradi and Pakhshan Azizi, security agencies have intensified these pressures and summonses to instill fear and prevent any protests or gatherings.
