A group of youths and political and civil activists of Golestan province, by publishing a statement, called for a rally and sit-in protest in Galikash in support of Maulana Gargij.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, based on this call, people will hold a rally in Galikash on Friday January 27th, 2023.
The text of the call is as follows:
We Sunni people of Golestan, youths, political and civil activists condemn the ban on Sheikh Al-Tafseer Mohammad Hossein Gargij holding public mass and announced that we will continue our protests and gatherings until we reach our demands, which is to pray under the Imamate of Maulvi Gargij lead.
It is the right of Sunni people of Golestan to be free in their rulings, and the government should think about the state of its economy and listen to the voice of the people instead of banning someone who just gives good advices.
We political and civil activists invite all our Sunni Turkmen and Baloch brothers to participate in this gathering and sit-in protest to achieve our demands.
On Friday January 27th, 2023, we will hold a protest rally in Galikash to show our unity and solidarity to the government and let the government know that Iran’s Sunnis cannot tolerate oppression.
