Majid Tavakoli’s Six-Year Prison Sentence was Confirmed by the Appeals Court

Tehran Court of Appeals Branch 54, confirmed the six years imprisonment sentence and additional punishments for Majid Tavakoli, a political prisoner in Evin prison on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024, the verdicts issued for Majid Tavakoli, a political prisoner who is incarcerated in Evin Prison, were confirmed after the hearing in the of Appeal Court.

This political prisoner was previously sentenced to six years of imprisonment, two years ban on online activities, two years ban on living in Tehran and two years ban on leaving the country.

The Supreme Court accepted Mr. Tavakoli’s request for retrial.
Mr. Tavakoli was arrested in connection with nationwide protests on September 23rd, 2022. He was released after posting bail on December 19th, 2022.

He was previously sentenced to five years in prison by Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on the charge of assembly and collusion, and to one year in prison and additional punishments on the charge of propagandizing against the regime.

The verdict issued on August 2023 was confirmed by Branch 36 of Tehran Court of Appeal.

On October 7th, 2023, Mr. Tavakoli went to Evin prison to serve his sentence.

Majid Tavakoli was previously arrested and convicted due to his activities.
Majid Tavakoli is currently imprisoned in Evin prison.
